Shekar Prabhakar
Shekar Prabhakar comes with over 22 years of industry experience in marketing, product management and sales in the IT industry covering hardware, software solutions and services. He has global experience having been in the US for over 10 years, as well as shorter stints in UK, Dubai and the Far East. His expertise and experience in leading companies such as KPMG Consulting (now Bearing Point), Tata-IBM, Wipro and Zensar span the following areas:
- Channel sales management in new and emerging markets
- Industry vertical sales in the challenging public sector (upstream and downstream
petroleum)
- Product management in highly competitive technology markets such as PCs
- Product and channel launches – e.g. India's first retail PC showrooms
- P & L operations in the utilization sensitive professional services market
- Solution and services marketing in undifferentiated markets such as offshore IT services
Teaching is a passion that he has catered to throughout his working life, by taking every opportunity to facilitate various workshops and corporate training programs, and teach as guest faculty for MBA students. He holds a B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras (1979-84) and a PGDM from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (1985-87).
